Situation
In the dim light of a tiny cell, a prisoner shuffles toward the barred window. Distant laughter of revelers drifts in from the pleasure palace next door. Inside the cell, an old ledger detailing bribes and disappearances sits on the rickety table. A guard, with a face carved from stone, paces back and forth. The air is thick with the stink of sweat and betrayal. The prisoner scribbles a note, eyes darting to the flickering torch. He knows the ledger must reach the magistrate. The choice is clear: stay and rot or risk it all for a chance at freedom.
